Hayula Ink Privacy Policy
Hayula Ink is a studio for everything drawn. Your books and drawings live on your iPad. The only personal data the app handles is what it needs to run your Hayula account and your subscription, the digital originals you choose to register, and your conversations with our support team. This policy explains exactly what that is. The website hayula.com has its own, separate privacy policy.
1. Who we are
Hayula Ink is published by hayula, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“Hayula”, “we”). You can reach us through the support page.
2. What the app stores on your device
- Your work. Books, pages, drawings, brushes and settings are stored on your iPad, in the app’s own storage. Hayula Ink does not upload your artwork to our servers, except a drawing or book you choose to register as a digital original (section 5). If more than one Hayula account signs in on the same iPad, each account’s works, notebook, brushes and shapes are kept in its own folder, and the app shows only the signed-in account’s files. Deleting the app deletes this local data; we cannot recover it for you.
- Your session. After you sign in, the app keeps a session token in the device keychain so you stay signed in. Signing out removes it.
- Small preferences. Things like the interface language you chose, whether you have already seen your PIN code, and which of your works were minted (so they open read-only) are stored locally.
3. Your Hayula account
One Hayula account works across every Hayula app. To create it you sign in with Apple or with Google. We never see your Apple or Google password.
- From Apple or Google we receive your email address (or Apple’s private relay address if you choose to hide your email) and, the first time only, the name you agree to share.
- You choose a username and receive a PIN code. The PIN is an identity code for your account inside Hayula, not a password and not a lock on the app.
- We record when you accepted the Hayula rules and the Hayula Ink terms: the version, the time, the app language and version, and the points you confirmed. We also record the date of your last sign-in.
This account data is stored on servers operated for us by Supabase, Inc. in the United States, under access rules that let each person read and change only their own record.
4. Subscription
Hayula Ink is used with a monthly subscription sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment and keeps your purchase history under its own privacy policy. When you subscribe, the app attaches your Hayula account ID to the purchase as Apple’s app account token. To confirm your subscription, the app sends its App Store transaction ID to our server, which asks Apple’s App Store Server API for the subscription’s status. We store with your Hayula account the subscription’s transaction IDs, product, environment (App Store or test), status, expiry and grace-period dates, any revocation date and that account token. This is how one subscription serves one Hayula account. We do not receive your payment details.
5. Digital originals (NFT)
Only when you choose to register a drawing or a book as a digital original:
- The app uploads a cover image of it and the original file in Hayula’s HYLE format to storage operated for us by Cloudflare, Inc. The HYLE file stays private to your account.
- We record with your account its title, the date, a serial number and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the HYLE file, so any copy of the file can be checked.
- After a one-hour waiting period, minting is scheduled to create a token on the Base blockchain through Crossmint, Inc. Crossmint receives the email address of your Hayula account, to hold the token in a wallet linked to it, and the token’s details: title, cover image, serial number, your PIN code and its rarity, the work type, language and date, and the file’s fingerprint. The HYLE file itself is never published.
- Blockchain records are public and permanent. Anyone can read a token’s details, including its cover image and your PIN code, and neither we nor anyone else can delete them.
- Certificates. When you open an original’s certificate, the app asks a public Base network node about that token (its contract address and number only). The request does not include your account email or artwork; the network provider may receive connection information such as your IP address.
6. Support chat
When you write to us from Settings, then Contact us, your messages and our replies are stored with your account on servers operated for us by Supabase, Inc., so the Hayula team can read and answer them. Only you and the Hayula support team can see them.
7. Camera
If you use a tool that previews the front camera, the picture is processed on your iPad only, for that preview. The app does not save, analyse or upload camera images.
8. What we do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics services and no third-party SDKs that profile you.
- No selling or sharing of personal data for marketing. The service providers named here receive only what they need to run these features.
9. Deleting your account
Open Settings in the app, then Account, then Delete account. When account deletion completes, your account, username, PIN code, account data, subscription records and support messages are removed from our servers for every Hayula app. The books and drawings on your iPad are not deleted with your account, but remain in its separate local folder. Export anything you want to keep before deleting your account. Digital originals you registered remain public records: their tokens on the blockchain cannot be deleted, and their registry entry and files are kept with the account association removed from our registry; public metadata such as the PIN may still identify the registration; you can ask us through support to delete those files. A subscription bought through Apple is managed and cancelled in your Apple account; deleting your Hayula account does not cancel it.
10. Retention
Account data, including subscription records, is kept for as long as your account exists. Support messages stay in your chat while your account exists and are deleted with it. Server logs used for security and reliability are kept for a short period and then deleted.
11. Children
Hayula Ink is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Digital originals are only for people aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where they live. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA) you may have rights of access, correction, portability and deletion. Most of these you can exercise yourself inside the app. For anything else, write to us from Settings, then Contact us, or from the support page, and we will act on your request.
13. Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you inside the app.
